Are you a speaker – whether by choice or necessity? If so, it is your responsibility to deliver your message in a way that leaves a lasting impression on your audience. After all, why take the stage if you will be forgotten as soon as you step off?

Story is the most effective way to connect with your audience.
Actually, story is the only way.

In my 20 years of storytelling experience, I have developed a heightened awareness and an advanced skill when it comes to the art and craft of telling effective personal stories. I work with individuals at many skill levels to help them find, form, and tell their personal stories for audiences of all sizes. The work I do is extremely personalized – it has to be – and designed to match each client’s particular needs and experience.

Come to me with a theme for an upcoming presentation, come to me with a few stories you’ve already told and need to improve, or come to me with nothing but the desire to move, persuade or empower your audience in ways you haven’t been able to before. I will take you and your stories from where they are to where they need to be.

Pricing begins at $2,500.

Topics include:

The Value of Storytelling
Do the members of your organization need to tell better stories? Do they need to know why they need to tell better stories? Do they need to know how? This keynote will leave them with no questions – just a desire to get out and tell.

Brides and grooms (but especially brides) spend hours upon hours, dollars upon dollars to create an event that is uniquely “them.” From the invitations, to the gown, to the type of cake, so much thought and time go into every little detail. Trust me. I know. I’ve been there. And why not? However, where I met some challenge was when it was time to plan the ceremony. I didn’t want some cookie-cutter series of readings, verses, I do I do I’m done in 7 minutes kind of thing. Couples continue to struggle to find ways to personalize the ceremony — to make it truly a celebration of THEIR love. Fortunately, I have a solution.

As a storyteller, I find special joy in hearing the bits and pieces of the stories of others, and then putting them together in such a way that not only captures the emotion of the memories, but brings them back to life. Sharing your story at your wedding is the best way you can personalize your ceremony — because what is more you than your own story?
Want your own Wedding Story?  Here’s how it works:

  1. We will meet by telephone or in person (if local) for an “interview.” This is where you get to tell me all about the two of you!
  2. We will explore different options: which stories, how many stories, what kind of style, etc.
  3. I will compile the stories that you have told into readings that can be shared at your ceremony. (I will be in touch during this time if I have any more questions or need clarification.)
  4. You will be able to read them and suggest any edits.
  5. I will complete the stories and send you the final draft at least one month before the wedding date.
  6. You will get married!!

Please check out the Wedding category on the blog to read pieces of stories I’ve written.

When it comes to performing, I consider myself lucky to have had some amazing experiences at some incredible venues.  To give you a little background, I have been speaking for audiences large and small for over 18 years.  To give you an idea of whether or not I will work for your event (though I am inclined to say I’ll work just fine), here are a few of the venues that stand out.

1.  In 2000 I entered the Minnesota State Fair Talent Competition as the only storyteller.  In front of 13,000 people I told a four minute version of The Golden Goose, by the Brother’s Grimm, and won second place out of over 550 competitors.

2.  In 1999 I told as a Youth Teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee and was invited back to the Exchange Place in 2008.  In 2009 I returned to the National Storytelling Festival once again as Emcee for National Story Night.  I have been a regular at the Mesa Storytelling Festival where I have told at their Late Night Stories for Adults since its beginning.

3.  Since moving to the Valley of the Sun, I have told at several local venues and in Pine, Arizona at their huge annual Tellebration! event in November.

I grew up following in the footsteps of some of the greatest tellers alive.  In addition to the same high standard of quality, I bring a unique voice and fresh perspective to any stage.  My stories are full of life (my life), honesty and fire.  My hope for every audience is laughter, reflection, and remembrance of their own stories. You can trust your festival, your attendees, and your reputation with me.

Not a writer?  I’ll do it.  Not a speech-giver?  Let me help.  Someone told you you were good at telling stories and you want to give it a try? Let me see what I can do.  Send me a message and we’ll figure it out.
